Fat Little Buddies was started by two buddies who had talked about buying a bar for a number of years and finally found one priced right and they could see huge potential.  Before they bought the bar, it was on life support with not much more than a dozen bottles of liquor and just over 5 cases of beer.  The place was practically empty and all songs on the jukebox were loud and ever other word was a swear word.  The buddies decided to name the bar, Fat Little Buddies, after a group of friends that had spent many unforgettable weeks and weekends at Kelleys Island over the past 25 years.

The first task they set out on was cleaning and painting the new bar.  Their goal was to make the bar into a neighborhood pub, where local residents of Olmsted Township would feel welcomed and enjoy stopping by to friends and neighbors.  They quickly added new tables and chairs and stocked the bar with a wide selection of liquor and beer.  Local patrons warmed to the new changes and frequently stopped by to see the progress and the bar became just as envisioned, a neighborhood pub.  local softbal teams, bowling leagues, golf leagues and coaches from all kinds of youth leagues found the place a comfortable place to meet to share laughs and have a good time.  Fat Little Buddies supported all of these teams and leagues and supported all local fundraisers, we truly became part of the community.

For entertainment, musical acts were added on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  Thursdays was acoustical music with 'Paco's Tacos' which drew a regular crowd for these delicious delights, Thursday night football on the big screens and local musicians softly singing all your favorite songs.  The outdoor, back patio behind the bar, the big potential enisioned on the first visit was remodeled the second year and a second bar with 20 bar stools, draft and bottled beer and liquor was opened that summer to huge reviews.  The colored umbrellas and tables were a welcomed by patrons looking for a bite to eat and the sand volleyball table was turned into sand cornhole court with both daily games and weekly tournaments.
